Creating a New Matter – Ctrl+Shift+N

When you create a new Matter, you need to choose several settings and configurations.  From the Matter menu click New…

The Create New Matter dialog box appears.

1.In the Matter server field, type the Matter Server name. Depending on how SQL Server was configured, you may need to include the SQL Server instance name (i.e. MACHINENAME\INSTANCENAME). See our YouTube tutorial: SQL Server Download and Installation Instructions

5.Specify either a network (UNC - Universal Naming Convention) or local path for the repository location

Important: If choosing a UNC path please ensure the folder is shared out and users have access.

6.Click Next.

7.In Matter Settings you have a choice of creating a matter with default settings or creating a matter from an existing matter. If you choose to create your matter with settings from an existing matter, a dialog box will open prompting you to connect to the SQL server that has the existing matter.

If you choose to use settings from another matter, the following settings will be copied from the existing matter: Custodians, default production settings, custom print and triage production settings, keyword indexing exclusion list and noise words, OCR settings, PODs, marks, issue codes, review policy settings, privilege reasons and types, keyword lists, translation settings, custom fields, and metadata overlay column mappings.

8.In Database Location you will need to specify a location for DWR to create the database files.

oThe location must already exist on the SQL server.

oThe location cannot be set as a UNC path.
